The Tarot: Mysticism & Mythology; Numbers and Archetypes. Tarot is a deck of cards which tell the future of someone when one pick a card from a deck, inside the deck tarot cards it consist of many different pictures of different meaning in them. In each of the illustration on a piece of the card hold a mystery of a mythological image that holds a meaning that reads the future of the person who picks from the deck. Every illustration on the deck does not repeat, there is only one illustration of each in a deck. The deck of cards consists of seventy-eight different illustration in a deck, it was created in Europe during the mid fifteen century and the two different tarots are Italian tarocchini and French tarot. Tarot is known for finding once spiritual pathway since during the eighteen century. Similar to the poker cards, the tarot has a suit of four. For each of the cards, it is illustrated with a medieval image on the piece. As a game designer, we are supposing to study and understand the way of how each card is drawn. Hence when studying the distinct image for its historical illustration, we can also get a basic knowledge of the history of Europe. Designers can get a great inspiration when studying on how each card holds significance and how each image symbolizes a meaning. As days pass tarot designs have change, but all the basic symbols are still in the illustrations. In the board and card game industry, designers can get ideas for how a card is design differently. When how a card hold a meaning and “works”, these can help designers from making cards that have a similar meaning, like a forfeit card or a advantage card. In conclusion, tarots of mysticism and mythology are great inspirations for both game designers and board game designers.
