Anime/Manga: differences/similarities Kawaii/Chibi Culture?

Anime/Manga: differences/similarities (Kawaii/Chibi Culture?), anime is the Japanese pronunciation of the word animation. Anime is basically a Japanese animation with Manga illustration. Manga is actually the drawing style of Japanese comics, which has a long history of a art in Japan. Kawaii means cute in the Japanese language, while chibi is a Japanese art style of illustrating ‘kawaii’ character where the characters have a bigger head in a small body. So what it meant for Kawaii and Chibi culture is the culture of cute. The similarities between Anime/Manga and Kawaii/Chibi are that both of them are originated from Japan, and that they are both Japanese styles and illustrations. The difference for Anime/Manga and Kawaii/Chibi are that Anime/Manga style of drawing characters are usually drawn with a long upper body and their distinct big eyes and their small mouth and nose. While Kawaii/ Chibi are usually drawn without a nose and with a small body with a large head, their shape of their body always does appear ‘chubbier’ than the Manga style of the same character. Many Japanese games uses the Anime/Manga style in the game, they do use Kawaii/chibi culture too, but these cultures are moving out of Japan, many other countries study the unique art style and start using on many works. There are many great Manga artists in the current game and animation industry not only in Japan, but also in many different countries. Manga/Anime becomes a famous and well-known illustration style and genre. In our game, that our group is currently in progress does not have any Manga/Anime illustration because Manga always does exaggerate the eyes and the body proportion is not very accurate. Since we want a game as close to real life as possible, our team’s character artist drew it as realistic as possible hence he tries to avoid following Manga way of drawing. In conclusion, not all pictures or drawing are suitable for manga style and Manga/anime is overrated.
